7-OH dependence

Ibogaine treatment for 7-OH dependence

7-OH is a concentrated kratom alkaloid that acts like an opioid, so stopping it causes opioid-type withdrawal. We treat it with our opioid protocol: screening and a plan built around what you actually take, then a 10-day stay in a boutique villa on the sand in Rosarito, 25 minutes south of the San Diego border.

What is 7-OH?

7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine) is an alkaloid found in only trace amounts in the kratom leaf. Products sold as "7-OH" in tablets, shots and gummies are concentrated, often made by converting mitragynine in a lab. 7-OH acts on the brain's mu-opioid receptors, the same receptors oxycodone, heroin and fentanyl act on, so daily use builds opioid-type tolerance, dependence and withdrawal (FDA; NIDA).

Is 7-OH being banned?

On October 14, 2026, the DEA published a notice of intent to temporarily place 7-OH and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl in Schedule I when a product contains more than 1 mg per gram (solids) or 1 mg per milliliter (liquids), or when its mitragynine-to-7-OH ratio is below 100. The order can take effect no earlier than 30 days after the notice. Its stronger relatives, pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15 and MGM-16, have been in Schedule I since August 26, 2026 (Federal Register). State laws vary. A ban changes the supply, not your dependence, which is why many people are planning their way off now.

Why our opioid protocol fits 7-OH dependence

Because 7-OH works like an opioid, we treat 7-OH dependence as opioid-type dependence, using the same screening, stabilization and aftercare as our opioid program. Doctors have managed heavy 7-OH withdrawal the same way they manage opioid withdrawal, as described in a 2025 case report in the Journal of Addiction Medicine.

About the evidence: no study has tested ibogaine for 7-OH specifically. The research on ibogaine for opioid withdrawal is observational; a 2018 study of 50 people undergoing opioid detox with ibogaine in Mexico reported significantly lower withdrawal and craving scores 48 hours after treatment. Results vary and it is not a cure.

  1. Tell us exactly what you take. Brand, tablets or shots per day, how often, and anything else you use. A photo of the pack helps, since labels are often wrong and some products contain pseudo or MGM-15.
  2. Screening from home. History, medications and labs reviewed by our medical team.
  3. Your plan. Last-use timing and any stabilization are set with you on prep calls. Don't stop on your own.
  4. Cleared. You'll know you're cleared before you book a flight.

Questions

What is 7-OH?

7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine) is a kratom alkaloid that acts on mu-opioid receptors. Concentrated 7-OH products are far stronger than kratom leaf and cause opioid-type dependence and withdrawal.

Is 7-OH an opioid?

It is not a classic opioid chemically, but it acts on the same mu-opioid receptors as oxycodone and heroin, so it causes opioid-type tolerance, dependence and withdrawal.

Is 7-OH illegal now?

The DEA published a notice of intent on October 14, 2026 to place 7-OH above 1 mg per gram or per milliliter in Schedule I. The order can take effect 30 days or more after the notice. Many states have their own bans. Plain kratom leaf is not covered by the federal notice.

Can ibogaine help with 7-OH withdrawal?

No study has tested ibogaine for 7-OH specifically. We treat 7-OH dependence as opioid-type dependence with our opioid protocol, and observational research on ibogaine for opioid withdrawal reports reduced withdrawal and cravings for many people. Results vary.

Do I have to stop 7-OH before I come?

No. Don't stop on your own. Your medical team sets your last-use timing on your prep calls.

How much does treatment for 7-OH cost?

$15,000 all-inclusive for 10 days, including San Diego airport transfers, prep calls, private room, chef meals, nursing care and 90 days of weekly aftercare calls. Extra days are $1,200 each.

How do I know I'm cleared?

You'll know you're cleared before you book a flight. Screening is done from home first.
